Hi AI Enthusiasts,

Top AI news of the week

πŸ€– X wants to use data from users for AI training

X (formerly Twitter) will soon use users' biometric information for AI training. The new privacy policy goes into effect at the end of September. Twitter was founded in 2006 and bought by Elon Musk in 2022. Since July 2023, the social network has been called X. Over the last few years, the company has collected vast amounts of data. In the spring of 2023, Twitter even took legal action against Microsoft for illegally accessing data from the online service. That illustrates the value of data.

The new privacy policy reveals that X also collects biometric data from users. For example, X Premium subscribers submit their identity documents. The data from the identity documents could be extracted and used for AI training. The consent of users must agree, of course. You can assume that the data from X will be made available to Elon Musk's new AI company xAI to train an AI model.

πŸš€ OpenAI launches first developer conference

On November 6, 2023, the OpenAI developer event will take place, where the company plans to announce new tools. The keynote will be available as a live stream worldwide. According to OpenAI, two million developers are currently using OpenAI's APIs.

Since this is a developer conference, the focus will be less on interactive services like ChatGPT and more on APIs. OpenAI offers APIs for the large language models GPT-3.5 and GPT-4, the text-to-image generator DALL-E, and the speech recognition system Whisper. We are excited to see what OpenAI will present!

πŸŒ„ Zoom introduces AI Companion

Zoom has introduced AI Companion, a new tool for its video meeting service. The tool is designed to increase productivity and improve team collaboration. The AI Companion can output an overview of the content already discussed, which is especially handy if you arrive late to a meeting. You can also ask the assistant questions about the meeting. In addition, the assistant can create a summary of the meeting.

In the blog post (see below), Zoom states that no "audio, video, chat, screen sharing, attachments, or other communications-like as customer content (such as poll results, whiteboard, and reactions)" will be used to train Zoom or third-party artificial intelligence models. In addition, each company can decide whether or not to enable AI features. Besides, each meeting also has the option to disable the AI assistant if desired.
