Top AI news of the week
🤖 OpenAI is working on GPT-5
OpenAI is working on GPT-5, the next-gen AI model, with CEO Sam Altman suggesting it could achieve super-intelligence. Altman revealed that Microsoft’s partnership is crucial for success, requiring additional investment to realize GPT-5’s potential. Building such advanced AI models demands billions of dollars, extensive computing resources, and training on vast data sets, aiming to surpass human capabilities in knowledge, reasoning, and processing complex ideas, known as artificial general intelligence (AGI). Microsoft has already invested over $10 billion in OpenAI, aligning its business model with AI, particularly in products like Copilot built on GPT-4.
Our thoughts
Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI) has announced that this year’s announcements would look small compared to next year. GPT-5 could spark a new AI shock as it will be much more powerful than GPT-4. We are excited! The current AI developments are fast!

💬 Microsoft Ignite: Custom Chips for AI Workloads
Microsoft has unveiled custom-designed chips at the company’s Ignite conference, the Azure Maia AI Accelerator, and Azure Cobalt CPU, as part of its systems approach to chips. These chips are tailored to meet the increasing demand for efficient and scalable computing power in AI workloads.
The goal is to optimize every layer of the infrastructure stack, from silicon to software, for maximum performance and flexibility. Microsoft aims to co-evolve hardware and software, offering a range of options to customers, and plans to expand its custom silicon offerings in the future. The chips will start to roll out in Microsoft’s data centers from the beginning of next year. Initially, the chips will support the company’s services such as Microsoft Copilot or Azure OpenAI Service.
Our thoughts
Microsoft is preparing its own infrastructure for the AI age. Microsoft is focusing on AI and wants to reduce its dependence on NVIDIA. Custom-designed chips are more cost-effective in the long term.

🎶 YouTube and Google DeepMind experiment with AI and Music
YouTube is partnering with Google DeepMind for AI music experiments, introducing Dream Track for Shorts and Music AI Tools. The goal is to explore how AI can enhance connections between artists and fans. Nine artists, including Charlie Puth, Sia, Demi Lovato and John Legend are collaborating to create AI-generated soundtracks for YouTube Shorts.
A small group of select US creators have the opportunity to create unique soundtracks of up to 30 seconds for their shorts. By simply typing an idea into the prompt and selecting a participating artist. Then, the AI generates an original Shorts soundtrack with the artist’s AI-generated voice. Then, the creators can use the soundtrack in their Short. Despite the potential, YouTube acknowledges the evolving nature of AI and commits to responsible collaboration with the music industry.
Our thoughts
AI will find its way into all areas of our lives. That’s why we think it’s a good idea for artists and tech companies to look at the new possibilities together. AI offers many opportunities as long as we use it responsibly.
